Lady Gaga Will Take Stage At Italian Gay Pride Parade

Pop superstar Lady Gaga will take center stage with a live performance at a major gay pride festival in Rome over the weekend.

Gaga, 25, will appear at the city’s Circus Maximus on Saturday at the close of EuroPride 2011, to be hosted in the Italian capital, event organizers said Monday. The “Born This Way” hitmaker, ranked No. 1 on Forbes Magazine’s 2010 list of the Most Powerful Celebrities, is a vocal gay rights activist. In 2010, she spoke out against the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in the US military, which forces gay servicemen and women to keep their sexuality secret or face dismissal.

“Following an invite by the committee, Lady Gaga has decided to take part in EuroPride, confirming her support for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community,” says US Ambassador to Italy David Thorne.
